In general

CREATE A BACKUP OF YOUR DATABASE BEFORE PERFORMING ANY UPGRADE.

You are advised to back up your data before performing any upgrade.

Check whether the software requirements have changed at the section Requirements.

Apply the changes to the database structure by following the instructions in the sections PostgreSQL or MySQL. Execute the proper upgrade*.sql script from sql/. For releases after 0.3 this won't be necessary - phpaga does now feature a web interface for database upgrades which you can reach at "System / Database upgrades".

If you were using phpaga with MySQL and would like to switch to PostgreSQL then read the section Migrating phpaga from MySql to PostgreSQL.
